John Joseph Pignataro died February 2nd, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Although John lived the past 10 years of his life enjoying the mild climate of Ocala, Florida, he originally hailed from Worcester, Massachusetts.
Born December 3rd, 1941 to parents George and Jane Pignataro, John lived in the North End of Worcester and attended North High, graduating in 1959. He worked for several years with his father at Gallo Oldsmobile selling cars on Shrewsbery Street where his lifelong love of cars began. He was a regular at Speedy's Drive-In during its heydey. During the Vietnam era he served in the Army national Guard.
In 1962 he began his career at the General Motors plant in Framingham, MA working as an assembler. He remained with GM until he retired 30 years later. During that time he raised his children John and Angela together with his wife Lucia (nee Birdie).
John's interests ranged from antique cars to world travel, especially cruises, but he was also a movie-lover and an RV enthusiast. He and his second wife Sandi Pignataro (nee Bennett) recently enjoyed a cruise through Europe which began and ended in Italy, the place of his forefathers.
